Washing Drum

  • Brief Product Description The Washing Drum, also known as a rotating drum or trommel screen, is an industrial machine used for washing, screening, and removing impurities (such as soil, clay, and fine particles) from minerals, aggregates, coal, or other sized bulk materials. This system continuously rotates, mixing materials with water, and using internal screens and centrifugal force, it separates materials by size while washing away impurities. This device plays a vital role in improving the final product quality in the mining and construction industries.

  • Structural Features

    • Cylindrical Drum: The main body of the machine, installed horizontally or at a slight incline, which rotates.
    • Frame and Chassis: A robust metal structure that supports the drum and the drive system.
    • Internal Screens / Lifters: Plates or flights on the inner wall of the drum that lift the material upwards, facilitating washing and separation during rotation.
    • Feed Inlet: The point where raw material enters the drum.
    • Discharge Outlets: Separate outlets for washed product, water, and impurities.
    • Drive System: Includes an electric motor, gearbox, and belt or chain that transmits rotational power to the drum.
    • Bearings and Supports: The pivot points of the drum that enable smooth rotation.
  • Mechanism of Operation Raw material is fed into the washing drum through the inlet at one end. As the drum begins to rotate, the internal flights and screens lift the material upwards. Simultaneously, water is sprayed into the drum via nozzles. Due to rotation and centrifugal force, heavier and cleaner materials (the main product) are directed towards the product outlet, while water and fine impurity particles are discharged through holes in the drum wall or separate outlets. This washing and separation process continues until the material is fully discharged.

  • Build Specifications

    • Drum Material: Abrasion-resistant steel (such as coated carbon steel or stainless steel), depending on the material being processed.
    • Screen Material: Wear-resistant steel.
    • Internal Lining: Use of rubber or polyurethane lining where necessary to reduce abrasion.
    • Drive System: Robust gearboxes and high-efficiency motors.
    • Design: Optimized for minimal water and energy consumption, with easy access for maintenance and repair.
