The Pin Mill is a specialized machine for the grinding and powdering process, particularly designed for materials of medium to high hardness, as well as substances requiring the production of very fine (micronized) powders. This mill utilizes rotating discs equipped with numerous stationary and/or rotating pins to break down materials into fine particles through centrifugal force and impact with these pins. The Pin Mill is highly suitable for applications in industries such as food (e.g., spices, sugar), chemicals, pharmaceuticals, paint production, and powdered minerals. This machine is capable of producing products with uniform and very fine particle sizes and is considered an effective and economical solution due to its simple design and ease of maintenance.
Structural Features

Mechanism of Operation pin mill
Raw materials are fed through the inlet hopper to the center of the rotating disc (or between two discs). As the disc rotates, centrifugal force causes the materials to move outwards along the pins mounted on the discs. During this movement, the materials collide with the pins of the stationary disc (if present) and the pins of the rotating disc, undergoing intense shearing and impact stresses. These collisions break down and crush the materials into smaller particles. The grinding process continues until the particles become small enough to pass through the gaps between the pins or exit through the machine’s outlet.
